I know what you're talking about my computer has this orange light, it's flickering all the time and when I want it to stop it doesn't. But sometimes it stops when I don't think about it anymore and then I'm wondering why it stopped. Tho floppy drives reads data but the dvd is faster no?

I think there's a hidden message in this one just waiting to be stumbled on by someone perceptive enough.

I dont want to sound mean but.... Your DVD drive is probably dieing and its last request is that you live free and happy, upgrade to a younger model, something which loves you for your money AND persistence.

www.newegg.com is reliable when it comes to online parts. not always cheapest but I have had good buys there.

tiger direct is good if you need to get something fast, cant wait for shipping. they do have a website and sometimes you find stuff there which you cant find in-store.... price wise its not bad.

www.pricewatch.com is pretty good to spot cheapest prices over the net.

www.techbargains.com has a bunch of rebates and instant savings from various internet retailers.

www.cnet.com is really good if you are stuck between two or three choices and dont know the goodies from the baddies... reviews help ALOT. Ive used cnet before i bought stuff from headphones to my laptop.

hope this has some juice for your vitamin deficient machine.

Cheers
