Warhammer as it stands today.

So warhammer was not as much of a let down as AoC, however it does seem to have a curve that simply makes the game feel boring as you go.  I find myself not making time to play it.  And when I do have time I tend to gravitate to more thought provoking or challenging games.  Scenarios were fun at because they were new but as each side has learned tactics for guaranteed wins.  It's just not that interesting.  The PVE elements which i warned were not up to snuff never came about.  The story and lore elements were fluff and nothing more.  They spent so much time perfect balance and PvP they forgot to make the game meaningful.  Most people are not leaving due to a lack of content or lack of quality its a lack of purpose and replayability.  With AoC people left because they were angry that a good game was poorly managed.  With warhammer they are leaving cause they are simply bored.

While I have not left and still level my characters its more of a "what the hell I got nothing better to do." moment then a "sorry honey go to bed without me I want to stay up and play a little more."  If there was something anything that put some meaning behind anything you do it would feel like I am accomplishing something.  As is you gain a level go to the next area and grind that area and so on.  The world is so linear its almost suffocating.  I want to explore and go to places far off the beaten trail.  But if you try you end up finding invisible walls and water that apparently can steal your breath and kill you in seconds.  Whats the point of creating a virtual world that forces you along a set path.  There is nothing story wise to push me to the next tier or to go to and explore other zones the only motivating factor is to reach the level cap.

I wanted more of a story this is a great IP and deserves better attention to the lore.  The PvP is to repetitive and often you feel like it's all pointless.  Perhaps if they set the keeps to become challenged on a timer that once captured its yours for 9 hours or something then the other faction has a chnace to cap it again.  But as is you log off after fighting back the order and decide it's time to go to bed.  Only to wake up and find you have to do it all over again.  That gets really old really quickly.

Anyways that's my peace said.  Lets hope for AoC and War to improve and become the games they should have been from the start.

I find that I agree. If I didn't I would be in-game instead of reading posts on WAR has become very boring and I have to force myself to log in.

Yeah, I have found the pve reminds me of guild wars.  Progress along this path, if you haven't completed XX quest, you cannot go anywhere else.  I have found lately that I like the T4 zones, but considering I have to get through T2 and T3 to get there, it is a drag.

I'm still having fun with the game, but I agree on keep takes, there has to be a longer timer to make keep takes and defenses more important.  There also needs to be more global bonuses assigned to control of areas the special events starting today seem to be getting people to dip their feet in the water of ORvR, but that needs to continue and be focused on.

I hate to say it but I totally agree with what you are saying. I really wanted to love the game and make it my MMO home but after 4 weeks, I just got bored and haven't had any desire to log in again. It's really too bad because there's alot of fun to be had in the game just wish I could find it!

This is pretty much my exact feelings on the game at the moment. The RvR is passable, in ORvR, when people are actually doing it, but it still feels watered down and overly simplistic. The rest of the game feels like a slog to tier 4 and the world itself feels linear as you said, which also makes it feel quite small. I feel like I've seen the whole game world in a month, which is never something that should happen in an MMO. The game has no real "soul" to it right now. You don't log in and say "I'm definitely playing some warhammer here!" you get in and think "I'm playing that sorta easier DAoC game with warhammer IP and combat that's kinda like WoW." I want to like it, I really really do. But there just isn't enough depth there to keep me interested in the long term. I'd like to think it could shape up, and I'm sticking around until 1.1 anyway, but all in all I don't think they could add the complexity people are looking for without a complete overhaul of the game which realistically is not giong to happen.

I love WAR but  I would of perfered a deeper PVE system and a world where it didn't feel so cramped. Too many PQ's in smaller areas.

Warhammer and AoC were the only games I ever pre-ordered in my entire life just because they seemed so appealing to me. Wanna know which one I kept playing?

Warhammer is boring and typical when it comes to combat...too much of a button masher.

I do not agree at all. Game is very fun, never boring, scenarios are great, pq are somehow difficult to get enough players, .... always there is something to do. And have 6 lv. 20-22, rest up to 17. I love experimenting a lot different classes. PvE is also good, all my above lv. 20 alts have mounts, .... I do not have complaints. Ok, I miss a lot much better gathering and crafting. It looks I will be split for long time between WoW and War.

I'm in complete agreeance with this. I've been saying this since launch. It's just boring to me. The world seems repetetive, everthing is just so boring. I coulsn't lvel my character past rank 8 because I really just didn't want to play aymore. If I have to be that bored to get to the "great content" if the game, it's not worth it. Games should be fun the whole way through, not just for part of it.

i agree i have several less then 20 and one 30  and  i have no desire to log on and play because of how boring this game is. Its definately nothing of what i expected coming from a company that produced the best PVP game ever Mythic. As old as DAOC is its still far superior to WAR. I see no future for this game unles they totally reworked the game and well like one person said its not gonna happen. The world is dead already and its only a little over a  month old.

Can I ask why you quit warcraft or never tried warcraft... please dont use the pathetic excuses like "its too cartoony"... everything in warcraft is done with extreme care and its contents are constantly expanding and improving... everything you want outta warhammer or any other mmo warcraft has it all... and if they dont? then they'll have it within less than a year... if anyone knows anything about art they will understand how amazing warcraft's textures are... so you want realistic textures... ok then whats realistic? look at the real world then... realistic = dirty and ugly... thats the real world... dirty and ugly as hell... which is why we play games to get away from this ugly pathetic world...

and a P.S.

i predicted this outcome for warhammer as soon as i heard whats good about it... pvp? really? pvp? pvp doesnt last... it didnt last in warcraft and its not gonna last in any other games... making a mmo purely based on pvp is pretty much sucicide...

wanna know why guild wars lasts longer? guild wars actually has HUGE HUGE pve contents... and to think guild wars was suppose to be a pvp game only...

stick to blizzard... they may not make the most insane high end graphic engine games... but they are the best at making games that will keep you interested for much much MUCH more than a month...

I would agree that a lot of people are leaving because they are bored and yes it is understandable. When you only run scenarios you will be bored. If you haven't level to T4 you will be bored, if you have not ran the dungeons you will be bored. If you do the samething everynight, mind you this is by choice, you will be bored. There is a lot more content in this game than people realize. Most people are Rank 40 haven't even touched 5% of the PvE content.

All I got to say is if you are bored it is by choice. There is a lot in this game to do even at Rank 40. When you have unlocked the Defilers lair come and talk to me.

Actually I have a couple of lvl 22+ and I have gone to every race region and done all the quests on all 4 of my toons I have explored the world and found many tome unlock's I have done dungeon runs and have a very active guild.

I have run keep raids and defended them just as often. I have mostly stayed out of scenarios as evident by my reknown rank only being 11. I have run them but I hate how predictable they have become. Keep raids just hold no merit you capture an area and defended it with your 300 lifes. (I play a squig herder as my main, what can I say we are squishy.) Then 5 minutes after you log off the other side takes it back. What was the point. Did all my effort really net me anything at all? Did what I do change anything in the world at all?

The lore is boring even after doing soo many quests in gradually decreasing PvE areas where PQ's all but overlap. You start wondering what's the point the story is boring and honestly a disgrace to the comics and lore.

I feel it has so much potential that was tossed aside to try to make a PvP game that the dev's thought would be fun. With PvE as an afterthought. But I love PvP every now and then but as the game progresses the point and repetitive nature of it all just feel's like the days of hitting your level cap and raiding the same dungeons night after night. Only I am still only level 20.

It's become a chore just to get to cap. There is something seriously wrong with feeling like a game is a chore. Is it fun occasionally... sure but it should be more than just occasionally it should have been a blast.

The green skin area was the most fun I had the whole game until I got up past 13 or so then it turned into a bore fest of doing the same quests over and over the same scenarios over and over the same PQ's over and over, everything was the same.

I tried going to other race areas to explore but it always ended the same with feeling like I am on rails being forced down a path of someone elses choosing.

Where is my big world to explore with secrets and mysteries and rare monsters with random spawn and drop points. I take down a heroic world mob and get nothing for my effort. What is there to drive me forward but a carrot on a stick of the end game at 40. Thus I grind and slave away to the boring drab and hope one day it will be fun.

To each his own I guess. I find that I can't stop playing it. I haven't even touched my 360 since it's release. The only way I would find WAR boring is if I was on a  low pop server (which I was in the beginning but then switched to a high pop server). It's an awesome MMO and if you don't like it then you probably don't like anything.
