So I played “Monster Play” for about 1 hour tonight.  I really have nothing left to say about Lord of the Rings: Online after learning that PVP in this game is consensual.  Monster play is essentially just an instance of pre-created characters that you can upgrade here and there.  Boring button mashing.  Nothing more, nothing less.  Fail.  Now on to my overall review of LoTR:O.    [READ FULL ARTICLE HERE]

I’ve read through this guy’s three days of tripe and I conclude he simply wants to copy the success of  the Yahtzee / Zero Punctuation approach to reviewing.  Dream on loser.  Epic fail!

1/10 for the reviews .... and the one given grudgingly because he could at least spell.

honestly he got it right....the PvP isnt excatly fantastic and its basicly a cookie cutter MMO put in amazing world. that being said it doesnt make up for the fact that its a basic, been there done that world. mabey the expansion will change things up but im not holding my breath. its good but shoulda been an offline RPG.

Is the reviewer even a Gamer? He didn't  mention the things that are main components of a PvE based MMO- questing and crafting. And he failed to mention Classes at all LOL!

MMOrpg- Plz don't let Middle schooler boys with ADHD review the games- it degrades and devalues your MMORPG site. Especially for a game that has won so many GOTY and PC-GOTY awards.

lol....look at his avatar on his site. That's probably him, right??

Now notice how many times he used the terms "emo" and "fag" as a derogatory term.

Does someone other than me find this amusing?

Perhaps the op should reread Lord of the Rings again?  Or at least take the time to understand what the book is really about?

To suggest that Tolkien would be "turning in his grave" about how the MMO turned out disregards completely how Tolkien's son, Christopher, (probably the only man alive that closely knew his fathers value, dreams, and input of LoTR, has maintained close control of the LoTRO as run by Turbine.  Tolkien enterprises does not allow deviation from the story that will hurt the vision of LoTR.

But please as an "expert" of LoTRO tells us how the game should be then..............................

I think Lichbane hit the nail on the head. Just another Yahtzee wannabe.

LoTRO is an incredibly well developed MMO that has learned from it's competitors mistakes and triumphs, and actually put them to use. If i was more interested in the LoTR lore i would have stuck with this game.

Sounds like someone that has only been gaming a couple years with very limited knowledge of the industry as a whole. it's way to biased and not looked at with an open mind.  something someone needs to be a "good" reviewer.  although i'm not a fan of the Lord of Rings online game either... but nonetheless it is targeted to a certain type of audience.  and LoTR is the ala cliche of cliches, it is what most fantasy games base their ideas around, the grandfather of it all.  So i wouldn't expect anything new or original here anyway.  JRR Tolkien was a great author and wrote some very great work.  But to make an MMO about it, is silly to me.
