So after waiting an obscenely long time to actually get into the game. ( Read: After having to download gigs upon gigs… then patch… as Turbine seems to be unable to actually, I don’t know, update their base installation ) I have finally joined the world of “Lord of the Rings: Online”. Not a bad game, not a good game either. Thus far, it’s just, a game. Then again in this world of online gaming how can any one company stand out from the other. Not very many options unless you want to steer away from your typical hack and slash genre and well… fail to get a customer base. Seems that games that hit ideas that are off the map of general cookie cutter ideas fail these days. But enough of my view on the current online gaming industry, let’s get into the good, the bad, and the ugly shall we?

well, that was time I'll never get back. I don't know why I bothered to read that.
Ok, seriously....other people SHOULD read it. just so you can laugh at the moron that wrote it.
Tue Apr 01 2008 10:35PMwell considering how much content is actually in the game..if they make the base bigger...wouldnt that just equal the same download time? And unlike other mmos...this one grabbed my attention. The storyline and graphics (one of the best around) beat anything else out there atm. This is probably one of the best pve mmorpgs out there.
Wed Apr 02 2008 1:26AMAs it says, im on day one. :)
Wed Apr 02 2008 2:11AMMiagisan,
If he wrote it correctly, he is saying, that he downloaded the full game, then had a large download of patches... Patches are not always more content, but typically changed content, so in theory if it was applied to the base download file already, you wouldn't increase the download time by much, but you would remove the need for a second downloaded patch file.
I only played this game in the final beta and can't say that it was good or bad, I didn't play it enough to find out, but I can say that this "review" is idiotic. Not even the worse of the reviewers post bad reviews after one day of play.
Wed Apr 02 2008 10:34AMTwenty bucks says that the reviewer never made it past level 10.
There is nothing wrong with a game review, but there is something wrong with *this* type of review....seriously, i could have written the same thing without even playing the game.
Be specific, why is it good? why is it bad? not many options? which options and compaired to what?
Way to many unanswered questions....don't quit your day job bro.
Wed Apr 02 2008 11:54AM"There are a few other things I might get to tomorrow if they continue to bug me such as quests that force you to party with other people. Come on, if I wanted to deal with idiots that have a pulse… I wouldn’t play online games."
i love this...sooo many ppl are playing M-M-O's that want a giant solo game.....BUY A SINGLE PLAYER RPG ...MMO= massively MULTIPLAYER online game....the whole damn idea is to play w/ others and have fun
Wed Apr 02 2008 2:45PMWhat is the point of giving your opinion of Day One of any game?
There is no point. Even if it's a very long day, you still know practically nothing about the game by the end of Day One.
But seeing that you have complained about the OPTION to customize your appearance by hiding certain pieces, this does not bode well for your future as a game critic.
Wed Apr 02 2008 3:58PMwow i see this guy, 1 is no game developer by any stretch and 2 he seems to want a game that hands him out everything like candy on halloween. This person is a supreme joke and nothing more than a troller
Sun Apr 06 2008 11:55AMNo comment on the article itself.. but I can't honestly think of ANY time I downloaded a game and had teh patches updated beforehand.
Hell, if you snag WoW right now you have to install all of the patches since the launch of WolK, starting from 3.0.2.
