Last Monday, a couple (husband and wife) in Reno, Nevada, US were charged with “child neglect” for being engrossed in online games too much that they almost starved to death their 2 babies.
According to MSNBC news, “The children of Michael and Iana Straw, a boy age 22 months and a girl age 11 months, were severely malnourished and near death last month when doctors saw them after social workers took them to a hospital, authorities said. Both children are doing well and gaining weight in foster care, prosecutor Kelli Ann Viloria told the Reno Gazette-Journal.”

I read an article on this case a few days ago, and I am still disgusted and horrified. Did these parents manage to feed themselves? And no matter how "addicted" they were, how much time would it have taken them to feed and bathe their kids? Neither of them looked around and said to the other, "Gee, do you think this might be bad for our family?" ... Grah. I hate this kind of story. It brings out the protective mommy in me.
