hmm
i played lineage2 for 4 years and said i never would quit.
i loved the community, i said id never quit the game, ever
then came age of conan..
i found myselve playing less l2 but i wanted to keep in touch with the community so i stayed in the clan board but at the same time made new contacts in aoc
actually now my view has changed and i totally feel ok playing more then 1 mmo
on the horizont there is spellborne, aion and war and i like ddo as well
somehow it seems to put me in a position where i dont know what to play anymore and i feel less attached to the community of a certain game.
with that much content rich mmos out at the same time it feels like going to a comic book store seeing all these cool comics with only 4 bucks in your pocket knowing you could never follow the adventures of all these characters.
in terms of mmo i feel that the market is great giving us that big varyity of games but on the other hand for me it destroyes the community feeling i had in the early days.

yes i have been playing more than 1 mmo since 2005 namely Guild Wars, Lineage 2, WoW, Perfect World, Drift City and waiting for Dragonball Online
Mon Jun 09 2008 5:48AM ReportI personally never realy got into the communities, probably because I never stayed in a game long enough to worry about it.
I started off with WoW (still play), then Final Fantasy (didn't play long), DDO (liked, but not enough to P2P), Requiem (beta), Ragnarok, Repellez, FlyFF (just to look), Corum, Guild Wars, +more. I have played a lot of MMO's.
I am currently hooked on Requiem, very good story, still not to sure of the characters only being able to have 1 class. The community is, of course, full of kids. Which I believe is inappropriate for this game (It's an M rated game for a reason). That is a topic for another post.
And Dragonball Online would be a great game.
Mon Jun 09 2008 6:57AM ReportUnfortunately, my "4 bucks in your pocket" is free time: as much as I would like to play more than one MMO (Guild Wars for several years now), I just don't have the time to devote to another game.
Mon Jun 09 2008 7:51AM ReportEver since I knew more than 1 MMO existed I've played more than one. My attention span is that of a gerbal, so it suits me well.
Mon Jun 09 2008 8:21AM ReportWhile having a large number of choices in MMO's is not necessarily a bad thing, the effect so many choices is having on comunities can be. Most games either no longer form tight communities, or the ones that do form tend to lean a lot more toward the exclusionary or elitest.
Everquest is notorious for this, with a large and very vocal block of the community actively harassing and insulting anyone they perceive as a noob (not max level, 1k+ aa's, and raid geared).
Mon Jun 09 2008 2:04PM ReportI try to play 1 MMO at a time, but I think I play at least 2 at a time due to the fact that there really isn't a single MMORPG that really suits me 100% of the time. I'm forced to play multiple MMORPG's in order to have what I would consider to be a complete or satisfying gaming experience. If you have the luxury of extra time and/or money to dump into more than 1 MMO, go for it. Just don't look back on your life and list your greatest accomplishments as max lvl toons and gear in x number of games, lol. Make sure to multi-task in the sun and fun category this summer, too.
