Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Bj (yeah I have already heard all the jokes bout my name) and I am the mother of two boys ages 11 and 6. Like their dad, my boys seem to have a knack for gaming and as much as I hate to admit it, have kicked my butt more than once on Halo and Halo3. I was introduced to gaming by my mom whom taught me how to play Dungeons and Dragons when I was 10 years old.
While there are lots of adults and parents out there whom say gaming corrupts kids, I have found that gaming, when balanced with a healthy home life, can actually be not only fun but a learning tool. Both of my kids learned about math, nature and science from the Pokemon games. Their eye-hand coordination improved thanks to Duck Hunt and my youngest has developed an interest in animal care thanks to Go Diego Go Rescue (for Wii) and Diego's Dino adventure (for DS) and my oldest boy has learned bout the oceans of the world thanks to Endless Ocean (Wii).
I personally have beta tested several games including Guild Wars, Pirates of the Burning Seas, Vanguard, Tabula Rasa, and EVE Online to name a few more recent games. Hopefully in upcoming blog entries, I can share some experiences I have had. I currently play Guild Wars the most though I do occassinally play other games as well.
With that said, I would also like to say that views and reviews posted here are my own experiences and thoughts. I understand that some may disagree with me and am always open for inteliigant debate.
I hope you enjoy my blogs!
