Thanks to my Brit B.F.F. Jay-Jay the Wonder Biscuit, I have for your viewing pleasure a video showing off some scenery in Darkfall!
He somehow managed to stumble across the Golden Ticket that allowed him to enter the secret code on the top-secret area of the password protected sub-section of the FTP area that allowed him to download an access key that gave him a .pdf file containing the coded letters of the DF alphabet that then allowed him to be graced by the ability to actually purchase the game, and I have not.
Some may say it's "crowd control" to not allow people to buy your game, I say that it's silly. But, whatev.
Thanks Jay Jay, WonderBiscuit!

Darkfall really has great sceneries but my main issue with this game (as I did have the chance to try it) was the community and the penalities on PK.
Thu May 14 2009 10:23PM ReportDarkFall is, in my opinion, the type of game where 1 guild will take full control over a server and the game will pretty much die as no one will dare to challenge "The Lord and his 100 allied republic for a total of 10k players ". This actually happened a lot of "strategy" browser-based MMO such as Lord Of Evil, OGame etc and I know that it will happen in DarkFall.
And for the PK penality system, I simply hate the fact that your name turn red when you attack someone. I mean, in real life, criminals won't have their name in red :þ they'll have a bounty on their head and this would actually create even more possibilities in DarkFall such as Hunter guilds who hunts for the bounty. Beside, you already lose all your equips upon death so I think it's a bit too much.
I thought your name wouldn't appear over your head?
Thu May 14 2009 10:25PM ReportNice scenery for the most part, however I found it lacking. No wildlife at all. No npc's running around the city you showed, yet torches were lit. Who lit them? It just seems like a very sterile world. I saw some blimps for a lack of a better world. DO they have any use, or are they just for show?
Thu May 14 2009 10:46PM ReportWhen you put your cursor over a monster, npc or player, his name will show up. Otherwise you don't see names above a character's head
Thu May 14 2009 10:48PM ReportAh, I thought one of the big hardcore deals about the game was that you couldnt see the name over the head.
Oh well, the game seems to have tried a lot of things and only met them halfway. Still, I would LOVE to try it.
Jay said it kind of reminded him of VG's scenery, which is nice, but can come across pretty empty sometimes.

Thu May 14 2009 10:54PM ReportI guess the big question is, can you play the game at that setting without taking a big hit in your FPS. If not, then its just wallpaper.
Fri May 15 2009 1:59AM ReportNice video and a great song over it - Grace Under Pressure by Elbow.
Fri May 15 2009 4:32AM ReportI didnt see anyhting special in scenery. An empty dull world without life that would be good 5 years ago maybe. Is that your 1st mmo?

Actually, no, my first MMO was 10 years ago. Like I typed, this is a video my brit friend made..he got into the game and I didn't. In the past I called DF an ugly game, but the scenery is quite nice.
And like I typed as well, he commented that the world was empty-ish, but that can change as the game progresses. Who knows?
