Kotaku wrote about the Hello Kitty Founders Beta the following:
I'm not sure when there's so much interest here on Kotaku regarding Hello Kitty Online, and I'm not sure I really want to know, if only so I can maintain plausible deniability for whatever comes next. For whatever twisted reasons, the excitement is there, so I thought I'd let you in on the chance to gain prestige far beyond that of the normal Hello Kitty fan, by becoming one of the Hello Kitty Online founders!
Kotaku applied to be a founder!
So indeed, why is the excitement about HKO twisted and why must there be plausible deniability to play a game like this? I think it's great, anticipation seems high for a crowd like us for sure. But what about the crowd that reads Kotaku and MMORPG and such sites, that are more accustomed to girls wearing almost no clothes and men in heavy armor slaying green beasts?
