I've been an MMO player for a good 10 years plus now, starting with The Realm before beta testing (and somehow sticking with the dreadful launch of) Anarchy Online. I've been playing the damn things ever since, taking in EQ I & II, AC2, EVE, SWG, LoTRO, Ryzom, Guild Wars, WoW, Hz and Entropia (among others).
But no matter which paid for MMO (or two) you're playing at any given time, there's always times when you want your MMO fix but need to look further afield. Maybe you've been crafting, or hunting, all day and want a break (but don't want to go out into the real world) - maybe you're away from your PC, perhaps on holiday or at work. For me, that's where the free MMOs come in.
I'm talking browser-based, for the holiday/work reason mentioned above. I've had some great times in these games, made friends, laughed out loud, been filled with tension and genuinely had some of my most memorable MMO moments playing them. The likes of Lunatix Online and Kingdom Of Loathing are genuinely good gaming experiences.
I'd love games to be suggested for me to try out. I'm going to try to do one a month, so if you've played a memorable free browser based MMO or ORPG, please suggest it - whether it was memorably good or bad, I'd love to give it a go! I'm a journalist by trade, so being an opinionated blabbermouth comes naturally - hopefully you'll enjoy the reviews.
Finally, I've not decided on the exact format of the reviews yet, but will have it in sections, so if you think any particular categories are really important, let me know.
