Power Of The Horde

I have been playing WoW for some time now, and i am trying to stimulate thoughts and/or arguments for other players as well as anyone else who wants to drop in. If you read a post, comment on it, cause i need input to make better topics.

Well, today i logged onto WoW, and was hopping around Orgrimmar when it hit me. Trade chat. My eyes started bleeding. 2 words. Dude-speak. My only question about it is "Oh my gentle Jesus why?". People typing using numbers for letters and words, are, in my opinion, suffering from some social retardation issues. When i get a message saying "200 f00d plzkthxbi" when playing my mage, i am not upset with people bugging me for food, but the fact that they spelled it f00d. It's getting out of hand. Honestly, if you talk like that, you should be playing counterstrike. The idea used to be to make typing quicker and easier, but the sad part is, people spend more time spelling "I g0t sum sup4 l33t g3ar, ch3ck 1t!" than saying "check out the epix!". No longer shorthand, just punishment for us all who can't make heads or tails of it. another example. Sitting in Zul'Farrak after killing Antu'Sul, and someone spouts off "I g0t d1b5 0n d4 m4c3". ... ................. What in god's green earth was that? i asked, and the reply i got was "w4t u m33n?". I replied 77434529342343344 and left party. That annoys me. The sad part is, I have not exaggerated any of my examples. I ask all those of you reading this to post in. Why the hell do people type like that?

13 year olds.. Also, systematically the reason for the decline of  mmo's.. (from an experience as well as quality standpoint).. Strangely though, I dont remember this problem in my EQ days, or even when I was playing DAoC.. WoW, on the other hand, has most definately facilitated the growth of this "dude-speak".. Sadly, the only explanation I have to offer is this: pre-pubescent, ADD ridden, delinquents are (and will indefinately) going to give the more mature gamer something to (at the very least) get a chuckle about..

Personally, I would love for every '1337' speaking moron and internet shorthand user to be reported and punished...by their english teachers.  It's a sad state of affairs to see people too lazy to type a proper word, much less a proper sentence.  In my mind, it only makes them look stupid and idiotic, not cool.

People who type like that never garner an invitation to my guild.  They only find themselves on my ignore list.  Elitist and petty?  Maybe, but it beats slapping them silly like I want to.  :)

I am sad that I actually understood all of that. The worst part is this excuse for English is starting to enter everyday life. When I start seeing "leet" speak on billboards, it is time to just knock it out.

About the "it makes it longer to type" thing, thats true, for alot of people pressing 0 is slower than pressing o.
