a simple game would be fun, a game like fun counter strike is actually pretty simple: w,a,s,d movement, space jump, shift duck etc. but still its advanced (slide as an example) you sure know if you played the game.
Making that into an mmorpg would be cool I think, ofcause that will be some things so it will fit to attack with sword, magic and skills. coming below someday
Anothere thing is the 100 npcs standing around and doing allmost nothing, you could use like 10 npcs. It could be cool if you also maked it so they were AI and you could talk/write to em instead of just clcking on em and then they tell you 1 - 5 things, I think it could be cool if you needed to ask questions to get information. Like this:
NinjaDude: >Frank Hello (could be important to start like that but would maybe be to borring, what ever)
Frank: >NinjaDude Hello mr. what brings you to me I havent seen you here before (an AI would remember that)
NinjaDude: >Frank Im looking for a job to earn some money and I thinked you looked like you might needed some help
Frank: >NinjaDude Thank you but you are an great knight, you cant help me, but mrs. Carrel are looking for a tough guy, go ask her, she is working in the flower shop down there
NinjaDude: >Frank Thank you very much, have a nice day (all so important to be nice because they maybe wont talk to ya if you treat em with respect)
and so on ...
You see It aint that simple anymore, but the only thing that need to be simple is the battle, rpgs are based on luck, I want the gaming in it, like you need to be good at rpg and action/shooting/fighting (or what battle type you would use) games, then it would be more interresting theres not much about the fighting in the games because you just wait for the battle to end, I know you maybe gonna activate skills but that doesnt really make it more fun.
