Thanksgiving. I like the part where everyone goes around the room and talks about what they are thankful for. Everyone always names the obvious... I am thankful for my family, for food, my new puppy, and so on...
I am thankful for these things, but you know what else I am thankful for? Dragons.
Without dragons, how else would I fill my free time? I mean, I guess we could easily conjure up another beast that is just as likeable and yet hateable all at once... but dragons fill this role so perfectly.
Yes, this is a vlog about dragons... how to tame one, to be specific.
I don't know about you, but I am annoyed at the lack of games that allow you to tame a dragon. Seriously.
The last good game I got to tame a dragon in was Ultima Online. Tamers were beast. Remember when you could summon 5 dragons? Yeah... I don't because I did play then, but I saw pictures!
I do remember when having a 525 Nightmare and a pureblood WW were optimal. You had to have a pureblood WW, else when you took them to farm Serpentine Dragon's they run the risk of losing happiness and becoming untamed.
I also had a dragon named Big Red. Him and I made frequent visits to Yew moongate in Fel to kill PKers.
Then I became a PKer... Well, things didn't change, we still made frequent visits.
Even the nightmares were part dragon. Summoning flamestrikes and flame bolting people left and right. Ah, good times... good times...
I guess what I am trying to say is, I really wish more games had a system like this. Taming in UO was a lot of fun, it was hard, and you could virtually tame, train, and fight anything. Remember training chickens to annoy people?

I am actually working on a new blog post as I type this, but it's taking me a little more time than I thought it would because I seem to be having a nice case of writer's block. That's always fun.
Also, lightsabers.

Good post, Pokket. :)
I remember when you could tame 10 dragons in a second... aww wait, I never played UO :( my loss.
Sat Nov 26 2011 12:00AM ReportAh, the good old days :) I too used to have a GM Tamer (among others) on Catskills and remember the pure joy and excitement when I tamed my first pure WW and long-maned, black Nightmare. Loved the article! :)
Sat Nov 26 2011 3:12AM ReportI never really got into taming on UO as i was busy pillaging and looting an stealing, but i was always wary of the people with tamed chickens because you knew they had 5 dragons up there perverbial sleeve hehe.
I hope you have tried Skyrim(who hasn't lol), the dragons in that game are awesome.
Sat Nov 26 2011 9:05AM ReportThe reason I played this game was for taming dragons :) Taming in SWG was my thing as well.
Mon Nov 28 2011 3:36AM ReportNo thanks,i prefer to see Dragons as the bad guy we kill in our games.
One of my worst experiences in gaming was playing Horizons and seeing 90% of the people were playing a Dragon. So if they allowed Dragon taming,it would turn the game into a joke.Every single person in the game would have a dragon,it would look as ridiculous as Horizons did.
Tue Nov 29 2011 3:29AM ReportIf you have writers block then look into ArcheAge,it is the one game i actually feel is going to offer a little something for everyone.
Tue Nov 29 2011 3:32AM ReportThe memories from UO are forever with me.
Thu Dec 01 2011 1:26AM ReportInterestingly enough, 4 months later and that other blog post isn't anywhere to be seen ;)
