SandBox???

I was wondering why people want a sandobox game so badly and not another linear or themepark game... after all, sandbox games are empty in content and they sorta dont have anything to do at all... U do what u want... then I want something cool to happen... sorry this is a sandbox that isnt going to happen...

sometimes i feel those old school people want a sandbox to remember their old times... but in general sandboxes for me are low quality projects.. maded in the past due to the technical limitation of yesterday computing...

Sand by them self is kinda nothing... just a bunch of grain and crap in the beach, with u give it shape then u have something, and that is what themepark and linearity do... shape up the sand...

If u want sandbox because u are tire of bored of linear games.. then is time for u to retire for a while from mmos, after all is kinda natural u get bored or less entertained from something after a while of using it...

But if u want a sandbox to entertain you for years... i dunno what to say... those days are gone...

By the way this is an act to TROLLING!!!!!

Nothing to do in a sandbox? Yes it is like sand and kind of shapeless but thats the point I make it what I want. The players create the world. I would much rather have that than a game that is basically train tracks that you can't deviate from. I get bored doing the same dungeon over and over trying to get the uber 1337 shinys.

Sandboxs are made to make your own destiny, thats the fun of it. You dont go by a hand held path, your just set out in the middle of the game and they say "Have fun", it's fun to some people, some it's not. To each his own imo. But the sandbox fans DO need a new MMO besides EVE to go to, because not everyone likes sci-fi, or not being able to control a person character. So this post is just whining about how sandbox isnt that great to the OP and how we dont need another, when there really is only one true live one.

Saying sandbox games are "empty in content and offer nothing to do" shows you don't really understand what a sandbox is and thus it is not worth arguing with you. But I must question why you care what other people want? If you don't like sandboxes than good for you, their a million linear games for you to choose from, but why do you care if someone makes a sandbox game for the people that enjoy it? Enjoy WoW.

tHIS IS A "JOKE" POST RIGHT??  nothing to do ?? empty of content? obviously this poster just wants reactions and he /she is getting them... they have not played an older mmo with its mega content..   and all new ones are based on lvls, gear, quests.   older ones had a flair for thinking... as in find a clue  travel here  find more clues ... hard to explain but i always refer to my first MMO  Asherons call... take about MASSIVE   anyway   this person just wants a few minutes of in the spotlight ..

I like Playing How I want to play, I like my game world being shaped by the players of the community. I dont want to follow a set patch. I dont want classes with idiot talent trees that give me at the most three choices...... I want hundreds of options setting up my character.

I dont want to have to reroll to a mage because I picked a warrior first. I want to make my warrior inot a mage and then a cleric and a necromancer that can build houses and make potions.

I want a game world that feels alive dammnit! not some sick and twisted single player game with a chat box.

People want sandbox because they want to shape the sand. Because they feel more like part of the game rather than a passenger in it. Because they want their actions to have meaning rather than ending up at the same dead end as everyone else who followed the linear storyline. I guess the people who enjoy linear MMORPGs are the same people who enjoy daytime soaps; they struggle with creativity and show no motivation to develope rather than participate.

We are done participating as innocent passengers aboard the traincar of linear progression worlds. As Cloud said it, "It can only go where the tracks take it."

I don't know why you would think that sand box games are less likely to occur now (with new technology) than before (with less technology).  It seems backwards.  If anything sand boxes should become even more exciting and fun to play than before.  Besides, mmos are really geared towards a sand box genre in the end because linear path type games are already produced on consoles, but players pay fees per month to create and experience different scenarios with thousands, sometimes millions, of people.

Why would you want mmorpgs to conform to linear, narrow-minded thinkng?  Games like WoW are killing the genre, but at least there are some games trying to set the genre back on track ( yes Darkfall might be trying to help sandbox games, but it seems like they throw around a lot of idealism and forgot to present their ideas in a workable system.  Darkfall is probably going to be another Shadowbane but with a newer  face, which is good and bad.  It's mostly bad because even sand box developers are presently too near-sighted).

only a person without brain and imagination can say there is nothing to do in sandbox game.

in swg there were politics, concert of actual people bands, stylists and much much more I will not write that. But there was surely something to do, in fact, I never knew what to do first. Until nge game ofc.

SWG got some shape after the release of jump to lightspeed and the other two expensions.. before that it was.. lets kill some crap mobs.. get 2 missions rewards per run then buy a house... fill it with random crap bough through compusive shopping then lets lag the server with it!!!!!!!

There are MMOs for you guys, and they're known as themepark MMOs. If you like spending money to shoot at ducks, feel free. The rest of us will be off making a world. See ya!
