Hello, fellow Fiestans,

It's time once again for our weekly server maintenance! What's been going on since last time?

This week, the GMs exhausted all of their creative energies, but it was worth it! Velfarre finished his vampire costume, Lightburb made a butterfly costume and Wishbone, LaRuru and HyperSpace decided to dress up as the Three Stooges. The GMs also spent their energy getting even more quests ready for everyone! This time, players from level 80-100 get to enjoy the added content, which includes 9 repeatable quests across the level span! (More details to come). Archers will also be pleased to know that the Hide skill gets an improvement, plus the addition of the next iteration of Nature's Speed. It's a great week in Isya!

Minigames for in-game currency! Where else do you get the chance to increase your wealth in the game while playing a games of chance? That's right! It's your chance to win some in-game money by playing a game, rather than grinding all day. Enter the Lucky House with your friends and play away! Who knows, you might get lucky.

What games await you in the Lucky House?

The Lucky House currently holds the dice game, slot machines and Lucky Capsule machines. The dice game is a fun game of luck in which you bet currency on specific dice faces. After each round, 3 dices will land on the table revealing 3 faces. Depending on what faces you bet money on you could win money, but also lose to the bank. Additionally you can obtain awesome titles to show your skills off to the community. Details on the slots and Lucky Capsules can be found below.

How can I enter the Lucky House?

Entrances are located in Elderine, Uruga and Alberstol Ruins. Press "M" on your keyboard to open the in-game map and look for the Lucky House NPC. After talking to him, press "Enter" and you will be teleported into the Lucky House.

Inside the Lucky House, you have to change your game currency to gaming "coins" using the Coin Exchanger machines. Only after you've exchanged your money will you be able to join the games and play. If you would like to change the gaming coins back to in-game currency, simply go back to the Coin Exchanger machines and change it back. The exchange rate is: 10 copper = 1 coin

The Lucky House Safe allows you to enter your stash and deposite or withdraw funds for your gambling enjoyment. Good Luck and happy dicing!

What is the Slot Machine?

The Slot machine opens the gateway to amazing prizes and fun minigames. It allows players to use game coins and challenge their luck. Bet on your favorite icons, press start and win. Cross your fingers and you might just get lucky! There are many different prizes you can win, starting with game coins all the way up to the jackpot.

Feeling bored? This game will entertain you for hours! Not only does it become more challenging once you attempt to win bigger prizes, but it also has a simple, yet playful, entertainment factor that doesn't require a lot of activity.

How does the Capsule System work?

The capsules are special item containers which grant access to amazing items in the game. To be able to obtain a capsule (Red or Blue), players have to convert their ingame currency into gaming coins. Using gaming coins, they can then purchase the capsules from the capsule system.

Beware: awesome stuff within! Every capsule contains unique items that can support players in the game. They even contain awesome weapons or a special King Crab mount!

Find out more about this awesome addition by joining the Lucky House and seeing it for yourself.

How do I obtain game coins?

Gaming Coins can be obtained via the Coin Exchanger. Players at different levels can obtain different amounts of coins depending on their level (starting at 10,000 coins up to 100,000 coins a day). Players can stack coins in their coin bag to be able to play for a longer period of time.

Go see for yourself and enjoy the Lucky House with various new minigames!

See you there!

Revised Chat Emote Triggers: A Tutorial

Good day, MMORPG readers!

The chat triggers to activate emotes in Fiesta have been revised since the original implementation. You will be pleased to know that they now require more deliberate action to activate (so they won't be activating when you don't want them to). But how do they work now, and which ones can you use?

There are a few rules to keep in mind when using chat emote triggers:

1. You must use a "/" directly in front of the trigger word. (i.e. /hi)
2. The "/" trigger word can not be the first text in your chat box.
3. A space or any other text before the "/" trigger word will work properly.

Examples:

/hi how are you? = emote fail
(space)/hi there! = emote success
whoa /hi = emote success

So, what are all of the trigger words, anyway?

"Greetings" category: hello, hi, salutations, what's up, hey, yo, sup, heya, hiya
"Laugh" category: lol, rofl, haha, laugh, lawl
"Cry" category: sniff, cry, tears, tear
"Charge" category: charge, charging, charged
"Dance" category: dance, dancing, danced
"Surprised" category: surprised, shocked
"Happy" category: happy, smile
"Frustrated" category: frustrated
"Angry" category: angry, mad
"Front and Center" category: hug
"Salute" category: salute, saluting, saluted
"Attention" category: attention

Fiesta Game News

Hello, fellow Fiestans,

It's time once again for our weekly server maintenance! What's been going on since last time?

Last week, [GM] LaRuru decided to check in on the other GMs to see how their Halloween costumes are coming along. She found [GM] Velfarre with his hands covered in bandages from multiple (failed) sewing attempts. [GM] HyperSpace showed off an amazing mask... but he spent so much time on it that he hadn't started the rest of the costume! But where was [GM] Wishbone??

After checking all the ramen shops in Isya, LaRuru finally found Wishbone... in the Lucky House! He just couldn't stay away from the dice game - but this time, he had a surprise! Wishbone invested all of his coins from the dice game to build TWO new additions to the Lucky House for everyone to enjoy!! Wishbone loves flashing lights and bright colors, so he bought a whole bank of slot machines! Also, you can now use coins to get Lucky Capsules, each of which contain random items as prizes. Who will be the first to get the rare top prize?!

Finally, there is a new event quest to continue the Halloween festivities! This quest starts with Healer Avon, so go talk to him to begin! You can find Avon in northeast Elderine near the Lucky House Guide. How's that for convenience?

To prepare for this maintenance, the servers will be shutting down starting at 11:00PM PDT, and the maintenance has a planned completion time of 2:00AM PDT, for a total of 3 hours.  Check the server announcements located in the Fiesta forums for updates in case the process is completed any sooner (or later).

Changes

- Lucky Capsules added to the Lucky House
- Look around the outer edge of the Lucky House for the capsule machines. (They look like gumball machines)
- Red and Blue Capsule Machines give a matching color capsule
- Red and Blue Capsules contain different item sets!
- Cost of 1,000 "coins" per capsule. You must use Lucky House credits (coins)!
- Slot Machines added to the Lucky House
- 3 types of machines (each a different color): 10-coin, 100-coin and 500-coin
- Minimum cost to play = 10 coins
- "Coins" used in the slot machines add to a cumulative jackpot (one for each type of machine)
- "The Ghosts and Ghouls" Halloween event quest added
- Receive this quest from Healer Avon in Elderine
- "Root of the Problem" event quest removed
- Added a slider control to the mini map to increase/decrease transparency
- Transferring guild masters now requires a 7-day delay

Misc.

- N/A

Errors and Bugs

- Fixed description for King Donkey's Tooth item ("binds on character")
- Fixed the look of character eyes when using a Beauty Shop coupon
- Fixed the "target out of range" error message when a Fighter stuns another player & tries to attack
- The title tab in the quest list UI now correctly alphabetizes

Hey fellow Isyans,

The community spotlight, a popular feature in the past, has made its return!

This means it is time to give out special recognition to players who have excelled in various aspects of the game, such as community relations, supportive attitude, skillful gameplay, etc.  As part of this special recognition, we have interviewed the three players selected for October. This month's winners are:_Jaybug_ , CallaLily and Eloren.

Interview 1: _Jaybug_

Hey _Jaybug_, thanks for doing the interview with us today. How are you doing?
Thank you, I'm doing great.

Good to hear. So tell me, how long have you been playing Fiesta?
I have been playing Fiesta for around 3 years now.

Wow, that's quite some time. You're probably really known in the community. What do you like most about Fiesta?
Well, I'm not that known. I haven't done a lot on the forums. But I do many things in game. The thing I like most about fiesta is getting to meet and play with all the cool fun people. It makes the gaming experience a whole lot better. Fiesta has a very unique community, I like that.

Our community sure is one of a kind. Now we'd like to know more about you. What are you like?
When I'm online I like to chat and play with my fiesta friends and help new players any way I can. I'm always open to help others if I can, but I also enjoy just a small talk with people I don't know yet. When I'm not playing Fiesta I like watching movies, and chatting with friends and family. I think that sums up just about everything.

Why do you think you were nominated for Player of the Month?
I have been told that I am nice by many people, and it is good to know that. I think I was nominated because I am nice to everyone I meet, and try to help fellow guild members and other players. But that's just my guess. To be honest, I have no clue at all.

If you could hang out with any GM you wanted for a full day, who would it be?
I'd pick [GM]Kobal, because he's awesome.

If you could add anything you wanted to the game, what would it be?
Kobal's tuxedo. I love that outfit and I think it should be on sale. I recall there's were various versions of the same outfit so if those were available in the game, that'd be really cool.

If you could pick any player to join you in this interview, who would it be?
I would pick KatieElisa. She is my in game wife, and is the reason I started playing fiesta in the first place. Oh and she likes to hang out with you Kobal ;)

Do you still see yourself playing Fiesta 2 years from now with all the new upcoming content?
Yes I still see myself playing in 2 years and longer. I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. I have too much fun playing to stop now.

Interview 2: CallaLily

Hey CallaLily, thanks for doing the interview with us today. How are you doing?
Um. Tired and weirded out. O.o

Oh yeah? Weren't expecting to be a nominated player?
Well....No? Considering I didn't even know what that was >.>

That's funny =P Well it's time to get to know you a little better. Tell us a little about yourself.
Um. I'm pixelated, I have shiny wings, white hair, blue eyes, enjoy being lazy and not leveling. That sort of thing o3o I play online almost every day... uhm... Friends of mine in real life want me to go places even though I don't want to go and ingame they yell at me to go level.

Why do you think you were picked as player of the month?
Cuz I'm a loudmouth. >.>'

What do you like most about Fiesta?
The people on it. If it weren't for my friends I'd have moved on by now :o No offense.

If you could spend an entire day with  a [GM] who would you pick?
LaRuru \o/

How long have you been playing Fiesta for?
Uhm...  I played a little bit on '08, but I quit, and have been playing now since early juneish. If you stay away too long, you miss the fun you had while you played.

If you could pick one feature / item or additional content to be added to the game. What would it be?
 O.o New wedding stuff? >.o

Oh yeah? Like what?
New dresses, wedding rings, etc.

If you could pick one player to join you at this interview. Who would it be?
StarAssaut or Lycos

Any last words you want to direct at the community? =)
*Derpface* HAI MUM! \o/ That is all o3o

Interview 3: Eloren

Hey Eloren, thanks for agreeing to do the interview with us. How are you doing today?
A little tired, since I stayed up too late last night showing off my noob pvp skillz in FBZ, but otherwise I can't complain. Too much.

You seem surprised to be picked as player of the month. Never thought you'd be picked?
Yeah, that came pretty well out of nowhere. I wouldn't exactly call myself a big gun in the game. Although I guess being the biggest event hoar in the Festival of Sparks this summer is a way to get noticed.

I see. Now we want to know a little bit more about Eloren. Tell us about yourself.
Well game Eloren lives on Apoline. My main character is a cleric, who'll be a Holy Knight once I stop noodling around on my mage and get back to mimics. And I have a mage who likes to have fun pretending she can pvp, and an archer who was actually my first character but the last one to get leveled past 36 or so. And a GGK farmer fighter, and a trickster, and a bunch of other random characters who mostly hold all my extra junk.

Real-life Eloren has a totally glamorous office job and an excellent boyfriend who helps keep her from spending too much time on silly internet games. I also am a classically-trained soprano, grew up on a dairy farm, and enjoy making beadwork and chainmaille in my spare time. At least the spare time that isn't taken up by gaming.

Why do you think you were picked for player of the month?
I expect it's because of the aforementioned event hoaring.

How long have you been playing Fiesta?
Almost exactly two years, give or take a week or two. I'm not sure exactly when I joined, but I remember collecting lantern souls for a Halloween quest with my cleric right after I made her, and that was about a month after I started.

What would you tell any newcomer to Fiesta about the game?
There's a lot to experience and learn when you're just starting out. A lot of people get super focused on leveling as quickly as possible, but if you go too fast you lose out on just getting to do everything there is to do in the early levels. I still remember a lot of the experiences I had with my first character, even though a lot of them were pretty nooby.  It's worth it to take your time and take advantage of opportunities to learn, and not just immediately go looking for powerlevels.

If you could pick 1 GM to spend an entire day with, who would it be?
I'd have to say Kobal. He's a pretty solid dude, and I like a guy who can rock a cravat. Although if you added up all the time we've spent in events together, it might already add up to an entire day.

If you could add anything to the game, what would you add?
Missing skills, recipes, and bug fixes. Wait, is that too serious? Um... I'd give clerics the ability to taze anyone who's rude about demanding buffs.

Pancakes or pie?!
Wait, it's not just cake or pie? 'Cause I was totally preparing for that question. Either way, while I do enjoy both cake and pancakes, I'd have to go with pie.

If you could describe yourself in 1 word, what would it be?
Groovylicious.

Great! Thanks for having this interview with us. Is there anything you'd like to add before we close?
Thank you very much for the honor, and I hope I don't get beat up too badly at the next event I go to.

Haha! Ok! See you next time =)

We'd like to thank these 3 for the interview and congratulate them.
As a special token of our gratitude to these 3, they will be rewarded a 30-Day Dark Topaz Outfit.
Congrats!

Hello, fellow Fiestans,

It's time once again for our weekly server maintenance! What's been going on since last time?

The GMs have been busy rolling out the orange and black carpets while getting ready for Halloween. The team is throwing around an idea of a boys-vs-girls costume contest, but they can't agree on who would judge! Lightburb volunteered, but then she decided that she wanted to wear a costume, too! Pretty soon you'll be able to dress up along with the GMs, as there are new October items on the way! We can't wait to show you which designs became reality!

There's a lot being added this week, so let's get right into it. With Halloween fast approaching, the towns have put up some of their own decorations to celebrate! A couple new monsters have also found their way to Isya. Look out for the Jack-O-Lantern monster in places like Moonlight Tomb, Collapsed Prison and Dark Land. The other monster is a huge, fearsome zombie that wants to infect everyone in the world! You'll have to be lucky to catch sight of him... though it may be the last thing you see!

Additionally, we all know that the GMs LOVE to talk (especially Wishbone), and so do our players! Now it'll be even easier to trigger emotes to go with your discussions! Certain text phrases will trigger emotes, and we've included a list of many of them in the patch notes below.

Finally, there's a whole new batch of quests on the way. This group of 20 quests is for levels 74-76 and includes 4 repeatable quests! We've included a table below detailing the level required and where to start each quest to help everyone out. Use it as a reference to get rolling!

Changes

- Added 2 Halloween monsters: Jack-O-Lantern (regular mob) and Giant Zombie (special boss for events)
- The Jack-O-Lantern carries goodies and can be found on 18 different maps. It will spawn up to 3 times on each map
- The Giant Zombie is not for the faint of heart! He has really high defense and can (temporarily) turn you into a zombie, too! Don't  expect any rewards beyond bragging rights, though!
- Halloween town reskin for: Roumen, Elderine and Uruga
- Added text triggers for emotes
- Sample triggers: what's up, yo, salutations, LOL, lawl, sniff, tear, smile, mad, dancing, salute, shocked, assist, hug, attention

New Halloween Content!

The long awaited Halloween Season has finally returned to Fiesta! I hope you will all take the time to enjoy this fantastic occasion as we release special content into the game. Halloween Events have just started and Kobal has carved the traditional Outspark pumpkin. Everyone is getting into the spooking mood and while Wishbone is working on his Halloween costume, Lightburb and Velfarre have started to bake funky pumpkin cookies with amazing icing.

While players are preparing for their Halloween Night out in the dark, something devious is being prepared in the dark corners of Isya. What will it be? I guess you have to wait and see!

This patch is filled with Halloween goodness that includes but is not limited to awesome town reskins. Now you can enjoy Isya in a new style that is the pumpkin frenzy. Roumen, Elderine and Uruga have been decorated to put you into the halloween spirit. All that's missing are costumes and a parade.
Well what do you know!? There might just be the occasional Halloween parade in a town near you!

Elderine now shows Halloween goodness in form of the pumpkin headed airdoll.

Roumen is now known as lantern town of pumpkins.

Besides the newly decorated towns, you will also stumble upon new spooky monsters that will make you say WOOOOOW! Get ready to be freaked by these monsters. You can find them in various maps at different difficulty levels.

Jack-o'-lantern Mob

Giant Zombie

Other than that, it's pretty quiet in Isya... or is it?

The OSKI (Outspark Insider): Party EXP System Upgrade

Fiesta Game News

Hello, fellow Fiestans,

It's time once again for our weekly server maintenance! What's been going on since last time?

Fiesta's 4th Anniversary continues on as different events and sales happen everywhere you look. Both FatalLace and FiestaFan joined the festivities, hosting events and giving out even more awesome prizes. This week sees the return of Mr. Squiggle (who's that? click here) while the GMs get ready for Halloween events coming soon!

GM LaRuru was getting ready to clean up Outspark HQ for the Halloween festivities, but then she realized that if she kept all the spiderwebs up, they would look like decorations! She put out all the welcome mats, though, including some welcome messages in-game, too! GM Lightburb took another step in making things user-friendly by tweaking notices for using HP stones.

The biggest change this week, however, comes in the form of a revision to how EXP is gained when in a party. This change is a natural and necessary evolution of how experience is distributed among players. Its intended purpose is to discourage powerleveling so that players can enjoy the full range of content that Fiesta has to offer. It allows players to truly earn their class changes and other achievements, increasing everyone's play ability and knowledge of game mechanics, maps, strategies and more. We want everyone to take pride in their achievements, whether large or small!

Finally, in a deep, dark corner of Isya, GMs Kobal, Wishbone and Velfarre sat hunched in front of piles of cloth, glitter and popsicle sticks while they tried their best to make Halloween costumes. Stay tuned to see if they had any success!

To prepare for this maintenance, the servers will be shutting down starting at 10:00PM PDT, and the maintenance has a planned completion time of 1:00AM PDT, for a total of 3 hours.  Check the server announcements located in the Fiesta forums for updates in case the process is completed any sooner (or later).

Changes

- Party EXP system revised
- Mini house automatically switches to default if premium mini house item expires
- Added welcome message when a user relogs into the game
- Added HP stone alert for lower levels when HP drops below 30%

In Progress, Discussion, or Review

- Secret Lab difficulty and drop rate
- Estate refresh
Helga difficulty
- New Fiesta dances
- Level cap increase
- Missing Malephar pieces

As always, check out the Fiesta calendar here to see which events are coming up next!
We'll see you after the patch, Isyans!
