Just upgraded my BigPond wireless internet plan from 10GB with excess usage charges to another 10GB plan with no excess charges, instead the data speed is 'shaped' to something resembling dialup.
It will have to do till I can get something better, can't get broadband in my area (Western Australia) due to line issues yet to be resolved.
Anyhoo, must get back to levelling Katyline, my Paladin in WoW while I wait for lunch to cook.

i hate excess fees, recently i switched to a new plan (got majorly shafted by my company when it came to deals) and have unlimited downloads between 6am and 6pm. Being a part time student this suits me well as i have 4 days off (including weekends) where i am home between 6am and 6pm. Having 10 gigs also means i dont have to restrict myself after 6pm and i can leave a download or two running all night (if needed).
be thankful you dont live in Canberra, home of the rip off plans and crappy internet.
Fri Jan 23 2009 11:33PMAren't they revamping the entire "Internet" in 2015 or something? I thought that's what you meant.
Anyone have any info on that because after they're done it'll be soo fast it's not even funny.
Fri Jan 23 2009 11:59PMWhere are you people? I have 600kbs download anytime for as much as I want in the great state of Texas.
Stinks to be you :)
Sat Jan 24 2009 1:26AMhell i thought my dial up back in the 90's pulled 600kbs..
my download is never lower then 2mbps.. well unless its from shitty source running less then an OC3.

Sat Jan 24 2009 5:51AMDialup gets 56kbs at most. You get 2 mega bits per second, do the conversion to kilo bits per second. That's 256 kbs your getting gan. You might think your getting 2 mega bytes per second but read the fine print.
Sat Jan 24 2009 11:59AMI have endless 1024 kbps for download and 256 kbps for upload here. It's not everytime I can get full speed, but at least at night is easier.
And this is Brazil. =)
Sat Jan 24 2009 12:31PMi was being sarcastic with the 600kps for dialup.. you should really get the stick out your ass.
And i dont know where you get your info Sargoth but heres some simple math for you, dumbshit.
2 mbps it is 2 * 1024 = 2048 kbps
Oh wait you still dont understand.
I was talking about MEGA BYTES.. not bits..
i really know this is very complex and hard to understand so maybe next time let the big boys talk.
Sat Jan 24 2009 10:25PMactually you need to divide that by 8(bits) and you cap @ 256KB(bytes)ps max downstream.
Sat Jan 24 2009 10:55PMA 56k connection is 56 kilobits per second, not kilobytes.
