Mmorpgs and Stuff

I am going to give my opinions both good and bad on games, gaming hardware and all things game related. I also plan to link to other blogs that I think are worth noting.

Well I have just been reading all of the flaming forum threads reguarding the latest news from Tasos reguarding the North American Server. It seems that if we want to play on the North American server on the day it opens we can purchase a new client. The other option of course is to wait 3 months and pay a fee to transfer with nothing.

To say we are dissapointed is just and understatement. Most of us bought this game, thinking it would be like all others and when the other servers came up, we would just reroll. I NEVER would have purchased the game had I known that I wouldnt be able to do this. So....even though I am liking the game, and I mean liking it a lot, as soon as I get done with this post, I will be cancelling my subscription. I will not give this company one more penny. If they were honest, they would have made it clear that a US client would also have to be purchased. I feel they clearly knew what they were doing.

If the day comes that I am able to play on a US server with the game I purchased, I may play again....till then see you around...

It seems to me that you, and a lot of others, made a lot of assumptions.  You bought a client for an EU game.  You got what you paid for.

Not really, Mmorpggirl. Yes, if the servers are in the same continental groups, but majority have some seperation. World of Warcraft, City of Heroes and such are grouped along the lines of EU/USA, and you can only usually join the ones you're situated in.

Which makes sense really.. logically the further away the server is from you, the more likely it is to have a higher ping. And different legal and cultural requirements.

Since the days of Ultima Online on most games, you can log on and play on any server you want. I am not going to go game by game and compare...Im sure there are some as you say...but the norm has been that they were all open.
