Another Look at Darkfall

I first heard of Darkfall at the 2006 E3 conference in LA. It sounded like all of the other fantasy games out there, and it wasn’t even in beta, so it didn’t get much of my attention. We met Tasos Flambouras, and Kjetil Helland. My friend got a very good interview and saw some good footage. We actually invited them to our company party one night and they showed up. Great fun. Oh….and the tshirts were so very cool (I still have mine by the way. Thanks again Tasos.)

It has always been the goal of Tasos and the team to recreate the feeling that was had in the game Ultima Online. I am not talking about the watered down version. After the Trammel addition, the game was not the same. I am talking when if you killed someone, you could cut their head off and keep it as a trophy. You could loot them and make it truly hurt. If you were a thief, you could stealth into houses and rob someone blind. You could get onto boats and steal them. Believe me, there was emotion. In the old days if you lost your vanquishing sword it hurt. If someone took your black dye tub, it hurt. This is what the Darkfall team wants to recreate, and I think they have done that.

I am very anxious for the American server to open up. For the first time, I have a computer that will do what I want. For the first time, I am going to make a pvp character and she will kill from birth. She will go red and never know what the color blue looks like. I am anxious to be one of those people that players run from. I also can’t wait to start collecting resources. I was such a resource whore in UO. I remember when I finally packed up, I had way over 50 K of each herb, bottles, and anything else there was to collect. The crafting looks good. I am really glad that the team has stuck it out and produced a game that met their dream.

I don't know if you need the advice, but could I suggest starting to play in a PVE server to learn the game, and then restart at a PvP?

Look nooblet....there is no pve in Darkfall. If I wanted pve, I would find another game.
