We would like to begin our first blog by giving a little bit of history about us and our game. Face of Mankind first entered beta in 2004. Back then we were all a bit younger, some of us players, others developers. It has been a long road getting to this point, full of both good decisions and bad decisions. People came and people went, with the game changing in some way with each transition. Through all of this however, we have gained a lot of experience dealing with sandbox games. It is because of this reason that we have decided to redesign the entire game. This will be an opportunity to create something truly amazing from the last ten years.
All this boils down to what we are calling the "Fall of the Dominion"? milestone. It is the ultimate unification of both new and old.
We now stand at a crossroads, with the fate of our milestone hanging in the balance. Funding has become tight, and a campaign to save it has begun. We have begun a Kickstarter campaign to fund the development of this massive milestone. Despite the seven months of development that have been put into it already, we cannot go any further without all of your help.» http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nexeon/face-of-mankind-fall-of-the-dominion
We will be using this blog throughout the month to give information about the Kickstarter campaign, and obtain as large a reach as we can manage. All of you are invited to check out our Kickstarter page. If you cannot back the project, at the very least it would be excellent to have some help spreading the word.As a game that has always relied upon the players to define it, we believe that great power lies in giving players the freedom to decide what they want in an MMO. For this reason, Kickstarter is an excellent platform for us. We have done all we can, and the fate of the game now rests in the hands of those that would play it.
In this blog we want to cover the development on Face of Mankind: Fall of the Dominion in regular updates. We have already gotten some of the core systems in place, but there is a lot of programming that still needs to be done before the game is ready for release. In our first update on the campaign page we covered a lot questions that the community had, but also showed a teaser of our technology demo, of which we are going to show you more.
