Howdy! I've been a dedicated fanatic for City of Heroes since it's original launch over four years ago. My other blog, PCDA.US, deals with my supergroup and specifics of the game. But with the impending launch of Issue 13, the next free expansion for City of Heroes, I thought it was time to expand our base a bit. Because this is truly an epic event - things are about to change in a way that many of us hoped, but one of us expected.
Starting in Issue 13, the players themselves will be able to write our own content and post it to the game servers. That means that those of us who love the game - who collect every badge, read every plaque for story information and get into long detailed arguments about Galaxy Girls TRUE origin - are finally going to have the option of writing our own history for the game we love.
It's a lot of power. And I don't know about you, but as a part time hero/villain, I love power. Makes me feel all warm and tingly. Kind of like leftover pizza.
If you've never tried the game, then by all means check it out - existing players can now give out 10 day free trials so you can enjoy the game so many of us call home. Strap on your super powered jet pack, super-speed across Atlas Park, arrest some hellion thugs or even "Go. Hunt. Kill Skuls". It's a game that will draw you in and let you feel heroic (or villainous, if that's more your thing), and in a couple months it's going to get a whole lot more interesting with plenty of new, user created content added daily.
In my posts on this blog, I'm going to try to introduce you to the world of City of Heroes, get you up to speed with the basics, and hopefully you'll even give it a try. Paragon City always needs a few more heroes to help hold the evil forces of Arachnos at bay!
