As some of you are aware tomorrow is the launch of Final Fantasy XIV's big patch, 1.18.  We are finally going to get some of the big changes we have demanded because I love the new director.  One of the first things he did when he took over the game is put out a large survey and asked the players what they want. That show real effort that they are going push this game in the right direction. Which i mean if people don't like your game you should always ask them what they think is wrong and frikin fix it.  This could really set a real example for future MMORPG's.  No longer should we have to be disappointed by game after game and we shouldn't have to stand for it!  If you want to continue to make money from us give us what we want and not what you bastard think is most profitable.

Remember when mmorpg's we harder and the adventure was real, and you would sometime get the illusion that you wern't in a game but another world?

That charm is disappearing from the world of mmo's. I remember coming home from school or work and to and would just lose myself in another world, I could run around and do nothing for hours and still loved every minute of it.  Now adays in mmo's I only about leveling or getting gear or just PvP, it takes all the imagination out of these games.  Remember they toy we had when we were kids, we had such simple toys  and we created a world for them to be in, but now adays we have toy that take away all the imagination.  Thats exactly what has happened to our gaming world.

I've recently played countless numbers of other MMO's since i quit WoW and now i can't seem to find another game that makes me happy no matter what i try, i think its because i have a hard time merging into the community.  So it would help if you guys could maybe recommend a fews games to me or even get me into a guild of people to play with. I think of myself a good player and i adapt quickly to new games i just really am in need of a new "home"

MMORPG's and House parties

I had a house party with beer pong and all that good stuff and people brought their laptops and a case of beer lol. So the we were alternating playing beer pong at the table while in between games of beer pong we were playing games on our computers. This gave me an idea for a drinking game that involves diablo 2 and alot of alcohol.  You get a lan group together and all load up D2 and play lvl 1 melee character and see how jsut how far you can make it before all hell breaks loose lol.  Kind of reminds me of when i use to play WoW and every wednesday on raid day i would kill a half case of beer because i played DPS and i'll tell you what i never had more successful raid days then when half the raid is intoxicated.

Completely off Topic but still a funny story.

So my roommate Andrew goes down to this party the other night and is like "i'll probably just have a beer and head back up" and i was like "thats straight"   So about an hour passes i'm laying in my bed watching netflix when him and this chic who lives downstairs along with my buddy greg and this other chic i had never seen before all enter my room.  And my buddy Greg has been trying to get with this mystery chic all night and i'm just chillin, well right in front of him she climbs into my bed, gave me her favorite bracelet and told him she was sleeping in my bed. I shrugged and Greg got pissed and left. So about 2 hours pass (insert unessesary imagery here) and i get up to use the bath room and go to my buddy Andrew's room and i'm just like "dude what the fuck was her name again?"  and so he has a quick laugh because i have a history of this name forgetting business and said to his girl "that's Sean for yah" then before i left to attend to the now kind of known girl waiting in my bed. he throws out the line "thanks for having my back Goose" which was a topgun reference to wing man...and i was like "wait didn't Goose die in that movie" and he was just like "good luck buddy!"

A bit of research into Role-paying.

Generally when you role-play you think of table top games or like that thing that a counselor would have you do to help study your views on another.  But Role-play is defined by Dictionary.com as:
    1. to assume the attitudes, actions, and discourse of (another), esp. in a make-believe situation in an effort to understand a differing point of view or social interaction.

After reading this I understand how I the mind set I need to be in when it comes role-playing in games. It’s a bit more then just pretending to be someone else, need to think about the person you want to role-play and ask yourself what would this character do in this situtation, you need to get to know your character like an actually person but you need to know them well like a best friend where you guys can finish each other sentences.

I just think it’s a new way to look into it to help make role-play more effective.

If you have any other suggestions let me know.

A Look into Games where Role-play is Relevant.

You may have read about my first role-play experience in an MMORPG in my last entry, now i would like to share some of my tabletop experience.

Now as you probably know table top game such as D & D and the World of Darkness are heavily built and Driven on role-play.  It requires a  collaboration of the DM/ Storyteller and the players sometimes you are being dragged by the weakest roleplayer in your party. Which you pray is not the DM/Storyteller.

But anyways the first time i played the World of Darkness Warewolf , i played an ex cop/ martial arts sword master so i had high detective ability and was a power house pretty much, i remember going into a gas station and seeing a nice ordinary family but then i was like you know what i'll role perception, and the storyteller told me to role my occult, and i found out the family had been possessed by glass spirits and i was like whoa! So i attepted to talk to them but no response and then they left, so i hoped in the back of my parties truck and my buddy Andrew and Mark were inside the truck and these bastard had to be stopped, so we chased them down and caught up to the van and we were like okay we need to make them stop, and i pondered for a second and i was like i got this...so the move i was going to attempt to do we jump from the back of the truck on to the roof of their van using the two knives i carried to stab into the roof of the van and hopefully that will make them pull over, the storyteller was all like you okay if you don't make it you will take 5 aggrivated damage and the rest lethal damage and Andrew was like "That not a good idea we are gonna need you for the fight.  And i was like "well...Fuck it" and i rolled the dice, and you hear Andrew go "oh my god he fucking did it." so i stopped them and tore the roof off the van and grabbed the driver by neck and threw him across the road.

But yeah its getting to be your character you invented in a free roam universe which can really be fun and my advice to DM's is make a linear sotryline work in a free roam environment. Because he planned it out to where we would have to run them off the road with our truck.  But instead being able to do stupid shit  is amazing!

My First MMORPG Role-Playing Experience

Many years ago before getting into my first mmorpg experience my friend Seth and I have just watched anime known as .hack//sign.  Seth said "hey dude we should start playing an mmorpg." I agree'd of coarse so we went out the next day bought new graphics cards and a copy of FFXI Online.

So we starting playing and we decided what type of characters were going to play. I played Dohnovahn i was a Paladin, and ihave this cool backstory and personailty worked out for my character. And my friend played Lyce, hes was a Dark Knight he also had this cool back story and personality and then we made our journey into the world of Vana'diel.

Upon our first visit to Jeuno we came across a church in upper Jeuno this is where we became involved and a kind of roleplay that involved our character into  the lore of the world itself.  This church was the church of Altana and this is where we formed the order of the Knights of Altana.  We recruited a couple of people who we had become super close with, there Davante who was also a Paladin, Apollymi who was our Black Mage, Dobiebear who was our Red Mage, Ivys who was our Summoner and Lyndiss who was our Dragoon.  This group made up our Knights of Altana. We even all wore Red Cap +1's as kind of like a uniform it was so cool.

Stepping into a role that you create for yourself and actually seeing it play out is definatly a rare experience and looking back on it, its honestly one of the best memories of my experience. Which brings me to the goal of this blog which is to bring people who enjoy role-play together and give everyone a chance to enjoy the experiences i had.  There is another outside of the box of the game but its up to the players to create it.
