While I really enjoy MMORPGs, I also enjoy racing. Project Torque on Aeria Games combines racing with MMO to create a MMORG (Massively Multiplayer Online Racing Game). You choose a sex, one of four starting cars, and you're off. If you enjoyed Gran Turismo 3 you'll love Project Torque. You can buy new cars, upgrade and customize your current one, buy "flag girls", and many other items. The large volume of customization makes the game quite fine. Besides street racing, drifting, offroad, and more plays a role in your ability to drive. Movement with the arrow keys keeps it simple yet fun.
Overall: 8/10
This is a funny Aeria commercial if you're interested, reminds me of Office Space.

Theres even more customizability that youve mentioned. Like i took a ps3 controller with a bluetooth adaptor and it works fine with the game as well. Also used a joy stick for flight simulators for racing as well. Its really easy to configure them. I had it set for push the stick forward for gas. The machine gun trigger for breaks yadda yadda. I bet you could even make a guitar hero guitar work for racing. *evil grin* And how awesome would that be to tell someone you just whipped them with a guitar? Also the graphics are fully customizable to work on the slowest and oldest computers. But even for newer dual cores with 2 gigs of ram and a 512 vid card it still gives them a heck of a workout. =)
