And so we continue...

Alas, I have some time before work to type this all out for you all to read. Hooray...

So, I'm having a couple of problems with WildStar lately, and it kinda sucks. Is it enough for me to stop playing? I guess you can tell me that when you read it. One of the biggest pros about Wildstar is that it feels like a complete game. It has all the stellar feature every AAA MMORPG should have. I.E Raids, Crafting, PvP, Etc etc. Whatever you think a AAA MMO should have, it has. (I should mention it's robust housing system, before I forget). So, as a complete and whole game, it does everything great. It's a lot like FFXIV, what it brings to the table it does amazingly, but there isn't anything new, except for their own quirks they put in. Sure, the game's combat system has the whole "Telegraph" system, which is new you could say, and it's fast paced, but it's still sort of the old tab targeting. Do I like it? Yes, it's fast paced, and a lot of action/dodging is involved, would I rather it have something else? No, because I think the combat flows with how the rest of the game is played. It makes dungeons, and raids very interesting.

So, as a complete and whole MMO, in the first month in, there is plenty of content to go through, so that's a huge plus. The game released, as a whole. Not to many missing pieces, and everything is put together well.... Except for the client optimization. Here is where my biggest complaint comes in, and I've seen many people on this site, and various other sites complain about this. They are planning you know of course, major updates in a timely manner. I would rather have smaller updates, and fixes with client optimization, then brand new content, that has the same problem with the older content. Now, I don't think de sync will ever be fully fixed, but with the constant lag spikes, and fps drops, I think they could do something about those... Right?

When I'm questing, it doesn't actually bother to me to much, until it gets REALLY bad, and I just want to restart my whole client, but when I get into dungeons, and raids... Then it becomes a huge problem. No one needs a tank that has huge FPS issues because of how the game actually runs. My computer is just fine. No problem running any top of the line games, but since the game is poorly optimized, that becomes a huge factor in my enjoyment. Who wants a laggy tank? I certainly wouldn't. It slows the pace down, and if I disconnect, they have to wait for another tank to arrive, or hopefully my client will load fast enough for me to come right back in. Either way, it slows everything down.

The problem hasn't gotten better since the launch, they have a some hot fixes, and things like that. There are still some buggy quests, and combat issues, which I hope for everyone's sake that they get fixed in a timely manner also. I'm no programmer, or anything, but I'm thinking to myself, "How hard will it be to optimize this client?" Is it their own game engine? I mean, there is many factors to think about when it comes to this subject, and I don't have the exact answer, but I'm stressing this fact because it's such a HUGE issue to me. 

On the other hand of course, I'm still enjoying the PvE content that the game offers, I do get burnt out now, and take a break and go do something else, until I want to play again. There are still the other classes to play, and other things to do that don't involve PvE. I did however dabble in the PvP aspect of the game, and I wasn't to impressed. I literally told myself, If I wanted this style of PvP, I'll just go play World Of Warcraft on my DK and stomp everyone. You know? There are games with better PvP out there, and some people will probably disagree with me, and that's okay. I was not impressed at all.

As for the quest hubs, and go here, and do that. I think i'm so used to it, that it doesn't bother me anymore. I mean killing X things does get old after awhile, but hey... Themepark is Themepark right? I did my research before buying this game, and fully knew what I was going to be playing. I expected all this, because the research. I mean, maybe to a lot of people 60$ for an MMO isn't a lot of money, but when you don't do your research before hand, and dropping that kind of money, and saying you thought it would be different. I'm sorry, but that's your mistake, and complaining on any website will just get you flamed. (I don't flame, but I do tell people I told you so).

So, we got everything down. I've ventured into what the game has to offer. Most of it I should say. I'm now getting into the end game content, and It's going pretty well. I don't want to have any REAL issues with how the end game plays out. I have enjoyed most of the leveling portion of the game. (Still have a little bit more to go with that). Extreme boredom hasn't kicked in yet, which is a good thing. So the end game is about to be kicked into high gear. Am I excited as I was maybe a week or two ago? Not really, because of how the game is running. Still excited though, in a lesser sense.

As a side note. I'm going to posting a Post Craglord blog on ESO. Basically it's going to be how is the game doing from my point of view. That will be up probably Thursday or Friday. Depending on how my weekend time will allow. Busy busy lately. It's going be slowing down finally, so that's always a good thing. More time to game. So, yes I have been playing some ESO as well. Hence the post patch blog that will be up. Another WS post will be up probably this weekend as well. Expect that as well!

And so the space adventure continues...

So why do I continue to play Wildstar? Well, I talked I think somewhat highly of the game, even though I pointed out some bad things about it. It's a really well made game. Is there anything that sticks out that is almost unique to Wildstar? Well, I must say the game is more "comical" than other games. It does crack a lot of jokes, and pokes fun at things here and there, the game has given me a good chuckle a time or two. It kind of sends a vibe of ease. If the questing, or grinding whatever you want to call it stresses you out, hopefully the comical value of the game can help ease that!

One of the biggest problems I am struggling with with the newer MMORPGs, is the post max level content. I'll give a good example... For me at least, the leveling experience for FFXIV was amazing, I enjoyed everything about it. The story line was amazing, and I enjoyed pretty the much the whole ride through. The game does have a good end-game, and has a lot of content, but the gear grind sort of killed it for me. Some people will disagree and they are allowed to, but that's just how it felt for me.

I never had such a problem with say World Of Warcraft, I somewhat enjoyed the leveling content, the first couple of time through, then when I got to the end game content, raiding and PvP, it seemed like the game went up 10 notches, and just got into a whole new game it seemed, and I miss that feeling. Why do I bring all of this up? I'm hoping WildStar doesn't give me the FFXIV feeling, and gives me which is hard to say the World Of Warcraft feeling. So what do I want? I don't want a terrible end game is basically what I'm saying. I have tried my best not to watch end game raids/pvp streams or YouTube videos, I want to either keep it as a surprise. I have watched previews of them, and with how the telegraph system works, they seem to be a lot of fun.

Playing a tank, I am defiantly excited to see what the end game content has to offer. I'm having fun with the leveling experience as of right now, so I want to keep that momentum going and carry it to the later levels. So far, the questing, and grinding hasn't killed the vibes yet. I played a tank in the past games I've played, and I keep the tradition going, and with this telegraph system it has made more things defiantly more interesting to say the least.

Now of course, I can't keep this post full of "OMG AMAZING EVERYONE SHOULD PLAY" content, I do have another trending problem, and after doing some searching (I.E google). I am not the only one experiencing this issue. What is this issue? Desync. Mostly in combat. For some of you that don't know what Desync is. From the Path Of Exile Wiki:

Desync is a situation where the game client on your computer and the PoE server don't agree on what is happening in the game, specifically with the position of players and monsters. Obviously the server's decisions take precedence over the client, so a heavily desynced player may actually be standing next to monsters when they appear to be safe from the player's point of view. This is different from network lag (high latency), and desynced clients can still have low ping.

(PoE is an action RPG game, so there is a difference, but I'm giving you an example essentially, to hopefully better understand the issue. Due to my MASSIVE experience with PoE, I know Desync very well... Sadly).

So, there are times where my skills are not hitting, and I'm getting hit by mobs, and they deal so much damage, and the game isn't reading it on my side. I've died a couple of times to it, even when I don't die, and I feel that desync is happening, it's just very annoying. I'm positive other people have gotten this issue. If you have played PoE, you know the feeling as well.  So, it's becoming a problem with me, but since I'm so used to it, I can just power through it though. I wonder if Carbine/NC know about this issue. I feel they must know about the client optimization issues. Well... I hope they are at least since that is my biggest problem by far!

Enough of that though, in-game I am still leveling my stalker, and have done the first adventure a couple of times to get some of the mechanics down, and practice for the next ones. Due to the botting issue people are having with PvP, I have not dabbled into that. I have hopes they bring the huge ban hammer out, and take care of the majority, so I can fully take in the PvP experience. I was reading a post on Reddit, about how someone que'd for PvP, and the enemy team was all bots, 100% bots. So, I'm not going to take that risk myself. I want to enjoy it, and not be riddled with bots. Nah mean?

So, it's way past my bed time... Well, I'd like to get some sleep to be honest, Part 3, will be more about what I experienced in-game. Character, faction, and questing. Whatever I decide to put in I guess. Part 3 will likely be up this weekend, or during next week. I have a busy work schedule next week, so I'll try to post Part 3 as soon as I can get some time in. And our space adventure begins...

Alright, so it's been a long while since I've posted anything really... Been focusing on other things sadly, but with the WildStar release, I thought I would spend some time giving you all some insight on what I think about WildStar, the new sci-fi MMORPG by Carbine Studios, and published by NCSoft. Now, I've said previously that I was interested in this game in the slightest, but when Open Beta came around, and i played with it, I decided to pre order so I could participate in Early Access, which was really fun. As the servers filled up, and I eventually got in around 4:30 AM EST time, I played, and leveled a bunch of classes, until my body eventually told me it needed to sleep or kill myself essentially.

So, what does Wildstar bring to the table? Well, with it's Combat system that is pretty much a telegraphed system, a lot of dodging, and sadly spamming of your abilities. Something sadly I don't approve of, I don't like spamming abilities constantly, it's not a big turn off but it's something I defiantly dislike. Constantly dodging and avoiding enemy attacks is fun though, it makes combat different I think. I mean it's still tab targeting with a small twist to it. I've played every class to level 15, and the class I enjoy the most is Stalker, with being a tank, and tanking is pretty fun in this game, and a little difficult as well. With taunts being skill shots, you could say with the telegraph, sometimes you just miss, and I guess it's all part of the learning experience.

A lot of negativity from the game that comes from me is how the game runs. It's poorly optimized, and I constantly have lag issues, and massive frame rate drops. I also seem to crash a lot when doing adventures, or moving to a new zone. I sometimes just restart the client to make the game run smoother. It's really a hassle, and very frustrating. Comparing it to games like even ESO, the game ran more fluid, and FFXIV. I hope they can figure it out, and hopefully optimize the game better. With the amount of lag and frame rate drops, it's very hard to enjoy the game at a certain point in time.

With all that being said, does Wildstar bring anything new to the table? I sort of feel like the same as with FFXIV. It does everything really well, WildStar does have a very robust housing feature, and dungeons/adventures are really fun, which is why I say what it brings to the table is very well done, but I don't think it really brings anything NEW to the table, I could be totally wrong to some people, it's just how I feel so far with the impressions I am getting from the game. Does this game merit a subscription? I think for what it does, it doesn't need to go free to play, the game is thriving more than ESO I think, even though it hasn't even been a month yet since release, and only time will tell for WS, but I feel like it's still very popular, on my server at least, and  I hope that keeps up!

As for my server CareTaker, a PvE server, the community is more friendly than anything, which is a very good sign for me, I like an active helping community. There are some trolls, but for group quests, there is never a shortage, easy to find, and easy to do. Sometimes I feel this game is to easy at times, and sometimes I think it's challenging. The questing is fun, you can find random quests, and going to specific zones some people will "Call" you and give you some quests. It's still the same though, find this and kill it, or retrieve X items, and bring it back to me. I like the fact after some quests instead of going all the back to them, you can just "Call" them and turn the quest in, it's a nice little feature that I like.

First impressions of the game isn't bad, but here's the thing that really bothers me... I feel like other games are just better at the moment. Don't get me wrong I am really enjoying WildStar, and I can see myself playing it for a couple of months maybe more. Maybe given more time my opinion will change, and I will like the game more and more than say FFXIV, or SWTOR. Wildstar is currently the only game I am subbed to, with ESO time ran out, and I just want to focus on one MMORPG, which is of course Wildstar as you can tell.

I expect a lot of posts about this game, hopefully more than the others. I'm hoping with time, and with the first major patch the game gets more content, and more enjoyable, and hopefully optimized. God damn, that lag and FPS drops are annoying, and I have a high end PC as well. Just in case you were curious, so I don't think it's my side, it;s more server/client side. So, I hope that can be fixed, fingers crossed.

I also rolled on the Dominion side, I don't know why, but I didn't like the whole Exile concept, I enjoy the Dominion concept better, even though sometimes they are wacky, and full of egos. The story lines are quest cool, with "Episodic" quest lines, it keeps thing fresh, and I like reading the random lore you can find, and i even read the quests. Though, I do wish more of the quests had full voice acting instead of some. SWTOR really spoiled me with the really well done voice acting, with everyone being done as that. I'm sort of sad when I see non voice acted quest. God damn you SWTOR, you spoiled the crap out of me.
