The latest Ashes of Creation blog has been posted that reveals that, not only will the world change due to players, but that players can be changed by the world. Both danger and joy lurk everywhere Even a simple walk through what should be familiar environments can be packed with potential threats or vast treasure. As the post says, "When you push the world, it pushes back. When you give to the world, it gives back."
The blog also gives some lore behind the game world.
The story of our game, begins with the arrival of our players. You have been chosen to repopulate this forgotten world. To explore what untold magic and glory exists in the deep dark crevices of these lands. Advancing civilization and founding cities to develop this kingdom for the glory of your people. Points of civilization will begin to rise, following the path the players set forward. Nodes will advance in stages, from a simple camp to a sprawling metropolis.
Of course we’ll have a player story to tell, something for each of you to play through and a narrative we weave through you. But what will make Ashes of Creation so special is that each server will have its own narrative, and each one can be vastly different, similar in some aspects, and never prescribed.
Quests tell the server's story, perhaps even more than the story of the player. Players will control the tale with each server having its own individual story that can be vastly different from any other.
