The Albion Online site has been updated with a sneak peek at the new Royal Continent layout. The team made the decision to rework the Royal Isle due to a recent wipe and that significant improvements could be made to the location without any impact on meeting development goals. The new zone is set up "like a pie-chart with each slice being a biome with one city" the blog post says.
The center of the map where all biomes meet is the "red zone" with a single city that is the nerve center of the PvP zone. Tunnels will allow access to and egress from the city, though they can similarly be camped by opponents.
The Royal Continent is the place where every adventurer starts their adventure in Albion. It is important to give beginning players a safe environment to start the game, where they learn how to harvest and refine resources, fight mobs, and get to know people. Afterwards they can try their first hand at PvP and eventually transition to the Outlands where they join a guild and enjoy large-scale warfare.
