Good but could have Great!

Game was good but very slow and required a lot of time to get where you needed to be.

Gameplay

The Gameplay of Aion is slow and very taxing on novice players. The game needs to be updated with faster combat to be able to keep up with more modern MMOs. It seems to a player that is looking to get into the MMO genre, he or she would need to invest time, in which most of us night dwellers already have. Battling creatures of a significant magnitude are not hard but very taxing, especially if the player does not have a healing capability. While on the combat system, the game is one dimensional in its battle conditions. It seems very repetitive and offers no change to controlling the battle itself. Seeking out new adventures on the other hand is quite nice and pleasant. This kind of makes up for the lack of gameplay with the nice scenery and always discovering new wonders, but this is not enough to change the fact that the game is slow. Also trying to link up with other players is not very easy. The online system for getting into parties and doing dungeons is not easy (unless you are a healer, every party needs one).

Aethetics

The game has quality aethetics being a MMO. The game has good scenery in all the worlds and gives the player a lovely and elegant feel to most areas and where areas are very treacherous, you can see it about to happen with that change in scenery. The Dungeons are laid out pretty well but could offer a little more of a challenge in the maze department (its too level based). The weapons look great and accompany the armor really well. The character building is one of the best that I have seen (you can literally do just about anything to your character).

Overall

The game is great to look at, very inspiring in the Fantasy/Sci-fi aspect of games but just lacks overall gameplay. The game's combat system needs work, missions need to be harder and not so tedious to make players grind out trying to level up. The movement system could also be changed to help the slowness but that probably won't happen. The game needs to be a more user friendly and let players play at a faster pace while enjoying the excitement that Aion could and should provide.

Final Score

8
