State of the Game - Adellion - MMORPG.com

The official Adellion web site recently posted an update on the status of their fantasy MMORPG:

"After being at the helm of Adellion for nearly four years, Paul is taking a break to concentrate more on RL stuff. During his absence John (Crydee) Bates will be taking back his role as project manager. The game has advanced in the last six months. The Torque engine we are using has now been modified to the point where we can start creating the world. There are still some hurdles to overcome, like the fact that the lighting needs a fair amount of work, but things are looking good.

It has been decided that rather than wait for Beta for fans to join in, the game will be developed in a series of open Alphas. The idea is that Alpha 1 will have the map of the Salanian county of Cebetshire and the town of Ikime. Testers will come in with a storyline for that. There will also be some buildings, three skills, some items etc.. New stuff will be added incrementally so the world will expand, new items appear and different skills develop over time until we get to a fully coded world ready for Beta. The Alpha story will also develop over that time. The advantage for us is that when we get to Beta a lot of testing will have already been done so that the Beta can be shorter than it would otherwise be.

We hope that Alpha 1 will open in the autumn. We will be having an HoC soon to discuss this. We will open applications for Alpha 1 a little nearer the time it's ready.

-John Bates"
